Mt Beerwah and Mt Coonowrin from the summit of Mt Tibberoowuccum

Inspired by my recent trip to the Glass House Mountains, I set out this morning to conquer two more peaks, beginning with Mount Beerburrum.

My second target, Mount Tibberoowuccum, is not a signed walk but the internet had led me to believe there would be an obvious path to the top... somewhere. I started from the carpark at Mt Tibrogargan picnic area, heading west and then south along the Trachyte Circuit (keeping Mt Tibberoowuccum to my right) before turning off right onto a muddy 4WD track. After 10 minutes, I took another 4WD track heading up the slope on my right (near a National Park sign) and followed until it just disappeared about 5 minutes later.

Looking back down from the end of the 4WD track... not sure where any 4WD would go at this point

From here to the summit there was a very obvious track that unexpectedly passed through a small section of rainforest, before emerging at a false summit with limited views. It wasn't immediately obvious that this wasn't the actual peak because this was obscured from trees to the south, but the track continues on roughly in the direction of Mt Tibrogargan. Along this rocky spine there are awesome views to the surrounding Glass House Mountains, and this was easily the most enjoyable section of the walk.

There was a very short scramble required to reach the summit, which gave more awesome views of the nearby peaks, including the one I had conquered an hour earlier.

Mt Coonowrin and Mt Ngungun

On the return trip, I took an alternative trail heading steeply down north from the "false" peak, which eventually led to a 4WD track and then onto Marshs Road. From here it was an easy 10 minute walk back through the two carparks to the base of Mt Tibrogargan.

The views from the peaks of both these mountains were amazing - probably the best of any I've seen in the area! Definitely worth the effort required to climb them.
