Two of my friends had never been bushwalking in Queensland before so I took them up to Springbrook Plateau, one of my favourite walking places. Normally the Twin Falls Circuit is overrun with tourists and noisy children but we managed to avoid them by starting late in the arvo. Sadly, the waterfalls were in pretty bad shape from all the rain we didn't get this season.

The eponymous "Twin Falls" were reduced to a "Single Fall" in the spate of poor rainless weather we've had lately, but the dramatic clifflines and surrounding rainforest were as stunning as ever.

Everytime I come here I forget about this cool overhanging cave

Where normally a wall of water cascades down the face of Blackfellow Falls, not much more than a trickle was dribbling today (but still enough to get a bit wet).

We spent 15 minutes at the top of Blackfellow Falls watching the sun set and the Gold Coast start to light up. A great little spot, and only 10 minutes walk from the car park.
