Description:
Starting from the Binna Burra information centre, this track rapidly descends to the bottom of a valley carved out by the Coomera River. There is a great variety of plantlife as forest scenery changes throughout descent, surrounding numerous rocky outcrops where water often trickles down to the valley providing a haven for moss. The walk passes Barrabareen Falls, a towering but wispy waterfall set amongst a beautiful palm-filled gully, shortly before reaching Gwongoorool Pool. Even in dryer months the pool is large enough for a good swim, although reportedly biting eels can be encountered. The rocky Coomera River system and cascades are worth exploring further upstream of the pool.
Gwongoorool Pool is popular with swimmers in the hotter months, but can be visited year round. The start is fairly exposed and can be quite hot early in the afternoon.
