Description:
Purling Brook Falls is one of the most impressive natural features in a park renown for spectacular waterfalls and rainforests. This circuit traverses several lookouts from the top of the escarpment before diving down into the rainforested canyon below, to a pool directly below the thundering falls. The rocky ground here can be very slippery from spray, particularly during Summer after heavy rains. In the past it was possible to walk behind the base of the waterfall in a track cut from the cliff. However, due to frequent landslides and the associated cost of maintaining this section, a suspension bridge was erected spanning the brook further downstream that bypasses the original track.
An optional and worthwhile addition to this circuit is the short return track leading to Warringa Pool. The pretty rainforested area around the pool makes a great break spot and cascades can be explored in either direction along the creek.
Purling Brook Falls can be visited any time of the year, but is definitely at its best after rain. The circuit walk past the lookout is often closed after storms.
