Location | Springbrook National Park |
Distance | 17 km (circuit), 20 km (including The Pinnacle) |
Time | 5 - 6 hours (circuit), 6.5 - 8 hours (including The Pinnacle) |
Grade | Moderate |
Track | Well-formed and well-signed bush track. Circuit closure is common due to storm damage. Trail leading to The Pinnacle is not graded or signed, can be vague in places |
Terrain | If done clockwise, the steeper descent into the canyon is followed by a prolonged, gentler uphill climb to complete the circuit. Creek crossings are slippery when wet, particularly around the Meeting of the Waters area. Summiting The Pinnacle requires a short, easy scramble with some height exposure |
Vegetation | Open forest along the top of the escarpment, rainforest on the slopes and in the valleys |
Highlights | Spectacular rainforest and many superb waterfalls. Great views across the Springbrook cliffs out to the Gold Coast |
Description:
Warrie Circuit is one of the best day walks in south east Queensland, combining the spectacular views of Twin Falls Circuit with some of the beautiful waterfalls and cascades found deeper within the gorge. The towering, distinctive waterfalls make great rest spots, and the Meeting of the Waters (the junction of two major creeks) is a pleasant place for lunch. The short diversion from Warrie Circuit to visit Twin Falls is a good addition to the walk.
A rocky outcrop visible from the car park known as The Pinnacle can be included as a side trip. This track is much more vague and requires a short scramble, but offers spectacular 360 degree views of the Springbrook Plateau and the rainforested ridges leading to the coast.
Warrie Circuit can be visited any time of the year. The many waterfalls are at their best after rain (although creeks can become flooded and difficult to cross).
