Pulpit Rock

Location: Blue Mountains National Park, NSW
Date: 31st December, 2013
Distance: 6 km
Time: 2 h

I got up early and was at Govetts Leap Lookout, the start of the walk, by 6:30am. There was a couple of photographers around at this time but nothing like the hordes that rock up by mid-morning.

The hike to Pulpit Rock is an easy walk, some slightly hilly sections but mostly flat following the cliff edges around several gorges. There are many viewpoints offering sweeping views of the Grose valley and waterfalls. I imagine the walk could get crowded during the day, but I only came across one other person while I was on it. Views were amazing in the early morning light.

View towards Cripps Lookout.  Looks like a nice inverse rock cake with vegetation layered within. Yum!

View from Cripps Lookout, looking back towards the Govetts Leap Lookout.
Mist clinging to the mountains gave the impression of water toppling over the cliffs

Bridal Veil Falls

Visiting Pulpit Rock lookout involved descending a series of metal stairs and, finally, a steep ladder section. Views from the bottom were amazing.

At pulpit rock, the best views are from the bottom!

Horseshoe Falls
